Event Description

The TSI impact group meeting in Valencia focussed on the draft report on impact assessment, presented by TSI researcher Dr. Ruth Simsa. The report considered academic literature on impact assessment as well as policy papers and institutional methodologies that third sector networks use for they own evaluations.

Two concepts that will remain central to TSI’s work on impact assessment are the “value chain” in impact measurement and the theoretical model of the “impact box”. For more information on the two models please refer to the first TSI Working Paper Methodological Guideline for Impact Assessment, published as a result of the Valencia meeting.

TSI researchers also discussed different research methodologies and approaches to impact assessment. Their feasibility was assessed in light of existing data sets on different types of impacts. There are challenges ahead, especially in regard to measuring well-being and participation, two areas of impact particularly highlighted by stakeholders in TSI meeting with national and EU practitioners.
