The consortium consists of researchers from 11 European universities, 2 individual members and a research network providing support and communications.

Members of the consortium are leading scholars in the field of third sector research who cover the full range of experience with European third sector institutions. Consortium institutions are geographically spread across Europe to represent the full variety of traditions in European welfare and third sector structures (i.e. welfare-partnership, liberal, Southern, Scandinavian and transitional models), as well as third sector entities (social economy, nonprofit and foundation cluster, and social enterprise clusters).

The consortium embraces the EU emphasis on “science in society” by including individual members who are mainly responsible for stakeholder engagement, making sure that the TSI project remains tied to the solid ground of actual experience and that key stakeholders will rally around the conceptualisations and concrete measurement and policy systems that the Project is likely to support.
