Partner Description
Vienna University of Economics and Business (WUW) is EU’s largest university for business and economics, business law and social sciences, with about 27,000 students. In 2007, WUW became the first Austrian university to receive the internationally recognised EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation awarded by the European Foundation of Management (EFMD). The Non-profit Group (WU-NPG) at WU currently consists of 15 researchers and 2 administrative staff. The Group engages in basic and applied research as well as university education. It also provides continuing education and networking facilities to non-profit practitioners and social entrepreneurs.
The Non-profit Group at WU has a recognized track record of researching impact-measurement, economic and social functions of non-profit organisations, developments of the sector, management of non-profit organisations, alternative forms of organising, inequalities in volunteering, giving and philanthropy. Since its inception in 2000, the Group has been involved in numerous EU and cross-border research projects such as CINEFOGO „Network of Excellence“ (FP 6), NODE „New Orientations for Democracy in Europe“ (Austrian Ministry for Science and Research) and EUFORI „European Foundations for Research and Innovation (European Commission call for Tender). The Non-profit Group is aided by WUW units and provides exceptional support with administrative and management issues.
Role in Third Sector Impact
- Main responsibility: Developing and testing of third sector impact indicators and third sector measurement; conceptual integration of findings; final report.
- Additional responsibility: Stakeholder engagement; dissemination of results.
