Dr. Ruth Simsa is associate professor at the Non-profit Management Group and the Institute for Sociology as well as Scientific Head of the Non-profit Competence Centre. Recent research focused on contributions of non-profit organizations to society, management and leadership of non-profit-organizations as well as impact of non-profit organisations. Her main theoretical topic is societal functions and types of influence of non-profit organisations. In September 2015 she took over the editorship of Voluntas, the official journal of the International Society for Third-Sector Research (ISTR), together with TSI member Taco Brandsen.
Apart from the scientific background, Ruth Simsa can benefit from practical experience as consultant for non-profit organisations. In working e.g. for the Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières, the Austrian labour market service, hospitals, mobile social services and a lot of smaller Austrian NPOs she gained insight in impact and barriers of these organisations.
Ruth is lead author of two TSI Working Papers:
TSI Working Paper Series No. 1: “Methodological Guideline For Impact Assessment”
TSI Working Paper No. 6: “Meta-Analysis of SROI Studies – Indicators and Proxies”
