Economic Value of the Non-Profit Sector in the West-Balkans and Turkey
Throughout 2015 TSI stakeholder organisation Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN) collected and studied data on the non-profit sector in seven countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey, giving an overview of the current situation. The study, published in November 2015, exposed the lack of data availability and related challenges to obtain them throughout the region, while giving recommendations for more systematic and standardized data collection.
BCSDN now published an infograhic on the economic value of the non-profit sector in the West-Balkans and in Turkey, presenting the main findings from the regional comparative analysis and challenges encountered in the countries, as well as the main recommendations in a highly visuable way. Given the lack of awareness of the third sector and its contributions among policy makers in the region, this is a valuable contribution to promote the recognition of the economic value of civil society, a pre-condition for institutions and policy-makers to develop effective policies and strategies.
